The Himalayas Collaboration Meeting
Event description
Recent observations with the James-Webb-Space Telescope have revealed many surprising observations of the high-redshift galaxy and black hole population. Some of these show that massive galaxies and black holes have already been in place earlier than predicted by models and simulations. While within the community progress has been achieved towards modelling these observations crucial physics is still missing in simulations. The Himalayas project will bring together international experts with complementary skills and expertise to develop the next generation of numerical simulations that will work towards answering open questions in galaxy and black hole formation.
The Himalayas collaboration is a joint effort between the Universities of Edinburgh, Sevilla and Tsukuba with the aim to model the evolution of galaxies and black holes in the high redshift universe with particular emphasis on modelling the Lyman-Werner background and its impact.
The collaboration meeting will be preceded by a half-day mini-workshop, giving early career researchers the opportunity to present their work on high-z galaxy and black hole formation.
