Scottish Quantum Dynamics Network Workshop
Event description
There is a diverse community of researchers across Scotland working on the broad field of theoretical many-body quantum dynamics. There is expertise in a wide range of topics within this area with applications from open quantum systems to quantum technologies to quantum optics. However, there is a current lack of a central coordination around these activities.
This event will be an initial exploratory networking event to bring together this community, to focus research activities towards common goals and share cutting-edge research, spark new collaborations across universities in Scotland and northern England, and identify future research directions of the field as a whole. We will focus on the broad unifying theme of non-equilibrium dynamics of many-body quantum systems, and particularly on the development of novel tools and algorithms enabling the investigation of these systems beyond the current state-of-the-art.
This will be a two and half day event, featuring both long (45-50 minutes) and short talks (25 minutes). Talks will occur in pairs, with each long talk (given by more experienced researchers) followed by a short talk (given by early career researchers), followed by a break to allow for discussion and networking.
We aim to have a relatively small number of talks, with lengthy coffee breaks and lunches in between, allowing sufficient time to explore a small number of key topics in full detail. Our core aim is to stimulate discussions and generate sustainable long-term collaborations between participants, with the intention of seeking further funding should this event prove to be successful in bringing together the many-body quantum community in Scotland and other nearby parts of the UK.
All participants in HCTP activities are expected to show respect and courtesy to others throughout the duration of an event, including at social events. We draw the participants’ attention to the HCTP Code of Conduct
