Scottish Complex Network Society (SCoNeS) Inaugural Meeting

The aim of this inaugural meeting is to bring together researchers interested in complex network science and in particular the interplay between mathematical and simulation-based analysis of complex network structures and available data. The remit of SCONES is expected to be broad enough to incorporate many current topics in network science research. To maintain focus, we will focus on applications of network science to real world problems, particularly where there is a combination of impact and room for the development of novel approaches to interpreting complex, dynamic data to aid decision-making as is the case in important global challenges such as adapting to climate change, maintaining food security or restoring nature. Network Science can play an important role in this and as yet, there is no Scotland-based organisation which aims to address this in a complex networks framing.

Our aim is to bring together individuals with an interest in a broad set of problems with the overall goal of developing new analytical approaches for tackling these problems and other problems with similar complexity. The creation of such a society therefore promises to facilitate the translation of fundamental research in statistical physics to societal impact.

The workshop will be in person only, to maximise developing of potential collaborative activities.
