Alumni Career Talk with Joyce Garden

Joyce Garden graduated with a Bsc in Mathematical Physics at Edinburgh in 1996 and continued to complete a PhD in Lattice QCD on Light Hadron Spectroscopy with quenched and dynamical fermions in 2000. After 18 months as a software engineer in a small startup company contracted to Cisco, she joined Cadence Design Systems as a graduate software engineer, developing software to design electronic chips. Today, 20 years later, she is a software architect at Cadence and most recently the software engineering director of the Virtuoso layout team in the Edinburgh office.
