Infinite algebra extensions of space-time symmetry algebras

Abstract

We introduce the concept of kinematical algebras and their associated homogeneous spaces where our physical theories live. Some of these algebras are related via Lie algebra contraction. We develop a framework that captures systematically the corrections to the contraction procedure, for example the non-relativistic corrections of order v/c, by introducing new infinite-dimensional kinematical algebras. We consider different realizations of these algebras.
